I Am We Are
I Am We Are
I Am We Are utilise reflection and sense making practices (Systemic Constellations, Theory U, Eco-Cycle), creative acts, rituals and rites of passage, gathering and participatory work (Art of Hosting). We are connected through shared impulses to make things together, and be in meaningful relationship with ourselves, each other and the wider ecology of life.
We are creating practical frameworks and financial and governance practises (Open Collective) within which we can resource, organise and deliver emergent work, where it is called in.
The purpose of our work is to cultivate generative relationships and communal practices, that allow us all to grow our imagination, hope and action, that enable us to live today and be in the movement of creating a world for 7 generations yet to come.
The catalyst for this work - why now?
Over the last 15 years Jamie Colston and his friends and collaborators have been working with young people, thorough the creation of intergenerational experiences that include: Climate Conferences, Youth led environmental projects, creating a community farm (CSA), community ceilidhs and gathering spaces for conversations. This work has centred around the need to create conversations around the inner and outer work that is needed in the world, and the re-contracting we need to do as humans to other species and life on Earth.
As much as any other time in the last 15 years, if not more, we need to co-create a different kind of intergenerational story of hope, action and solidarity. The world is deeply pluralistic, and yet we are also connected through this living planet and the life that blossoms through a multitude of relationships that make lt all possible.
In 2024 his son turned 16, and created this short film in collaboration with his musician Aunt and entered it into the Frome International Climate Film Festival. This film speaks through the image, news stories and song, of the contrasting experience of devastating human impact alongside the wonder and beauty of life unfolding, which also includes humans as part of the greater ecological story.
As a new artistic endeavour we are creating a pilot programme, of what we hope will be an ongoing annual modern day rite of passage programme, which will take a small group young people from around the world, to have an experience that explores what it means to be a young person alive today? The programme is designed to bring together creative practices, personal and ecological awareness practices, explorations of thresholds, conversation and facilitation skills and practical artistic outputs that enable the sharing of this annual work more widely.
Our hope in doing so is that we invite us all to be international, ecological citizens of the world, engaged in conversations about how we re-member ourselves back into the greater story of life unfolding.
-
Communal Grief
Events and gatherings where we pause to reflect on the seasonality of grief. We will be in looking at our systemic grief map, and adding nuance through conversations.
-
Rites of Passage
Rites of passage transform life stages into mindful journeys, fostering purpose, cultural heritage, responsibility, and belonging. They help us navigate challenges, connect with nature, and embrace our roles in an intergenerational community.
-
Eldering Practices
These conversations explore various themes including personal updates, community dynamics, cultural practices, the significance of feminine energy, and the role of elders in leadership and in our lives.
-
Reflect & Connect
This facilitated programme guides organisations and communities over 3, 6, 9, or 12 months, fostering deeper relationships, aligning with what matters, and supporting transformative shifts from the past to future possibilities.
